How we handle your data

ResumeAI is a free tool built by Hemant Sharma to help you improve your resume. This page explains exactly what happens to your data when you use it — in plain English, without legal jargon. If anything here is unclear, write to

1. The most important thing first
When you upload or paste your resume into ResumeAI, here is what happens:
- Your resume is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to generate your review
- The review is returned to your browser and shown on screen
- Your resume is not stored on our servers
- Your resume is not sold to anyone, ever
- Your resume is not used to train AI models — Anthropic's API explicitly does not train on data sent through it
The resume content lives only in your browser session and in the API call that generates your review. Once your browser closes, it's gone.
The short version: Your resume is processed to give you a review. Nothing more. We keep the same trust we'd want if it were our own resume.
2. What we DO collect
To run the tool and keep it free, we collect a small amount of information:
2.1 Information you provide
- Resume content — processed once for your review, never stored beyond your session
- Career stage — the pill you tap (Fresher / Mid / Senior / Switcher) to tailor your review
- Job description — if you use the JD Match tool, processed once for matching, not stored
2.2 Information collected automatically
- IP address — used only to apply rate limits (preventing abuse) and stored for at most 2 days
- Browser type and operating system — standard request metadata, not linked to identity
- Page interactions — basic analytics (page views, time on page) if you accept analytics cookies
2.3 Stored locally on your device (not on our servers)
- Score history — your past review scores, stored in your browser's localStorage. This stays on your device. We never see it. You can clear it any time via your browser settings.
- Cookie consent choice — your "Accept" or "Reject" choice for ads/analytics
3. Cookies and tracking
ResumeAI uses cookies in three categories. You control which ones load through the consent banner:

You can change your cookie choices at any time by clearing your browser's storage for this site and reloading the page — the consent banner will appear again.
4. Third-party services we use
To deliver the tool, we rely on a few external services. Each of them has its own privacy policy:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes your resume to generate your review. Anthropic does not train on API data. Anthropic's privacy policy →
- Google AdSense — serves the ads you see on this page (if you accept advertising cookies). Google may set its own cookies for ad personalization and measurement. Google's privacy policy →
- LinkedIn — embeds Hemant's profile badge in the About section. LinkedIn may set its own cookies when this badge loads. LinkedIn's privacy policy →
- Hostinger — our website host. Standard server logs (IP addresses, request times) are kept by Hostinger per their policy. Hostinger's privacy policy →
5. Advertising disclosure
This site is supported by Google AdSense ads, marked with "Advertisement" labels above each ad slot. We do this to keep the tool free for everyone.
- Ads are shown in clearly marked slots, separate from the tool's actual content
- If you accept advertising cookies, Google may personalize ads based on your browsing
- If you reject advertising cookies, you'll still see ads but they'll be generic, not personalized
- Your resume content is never shared with advertisers or used to target ads
6. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your data, no matter where you live:
- Right to access — request a copy of any data we hold about you
- Right to delete — ask us to delete any data we hold about you
- Right to opt out — withdraw consent for cookies or analytics at any time
- Right to portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Right to complain — contact a data protection authority in your country
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@hshelpinghand.com. We respond within 30 days.
In practice: Because we don't store your resume content on our servers, there usually isn't anything for us to delete. But if you've used the JD Match or Rewrite tools and want confirmation, just email us.
7. Geographic scope
ResumeAI complies with major privacy regulations including:
- GDPR (European Union) and UK GDPR — for users in the EU and UK
- DPDPA, 2023 — India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act
- CCPA / CPRA — California residents have specific rights under California law
Wherever you are, you can exercise the rights listed in Section 6 by emailing us.
8. Data retention

9. Children
ResumeAI is intended for working professionals and job seekers aged 18 and above. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the tool, write to info@hshelpinghand.com and we'll delete any associated data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the tool evolves. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes (e.g., adding new third-party services, changing data retention) will be highlighted via a banner on the homepage for at least 14 days.
